Chosen

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
1 Peter 2:9 NIV
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for the adoption of sonship through Jesus Christ in accordance with his pleasure and will.
Ephesians 1:4–5 NIV
I have always been a lousy baseball player.  I think the reason is that I am both left handed and left eyed, and therefore the ball is always somewhere where it wasn’t supposed to be. What a feeling it was when my best friend was one of the captains when we were choosing up sides, and the first person he chose was me.  He knew that I couldn’t hit a ball.  He knew that I kept losing the ball in the sun on cloudy days, but he chose me anyhow.  What a feeling, and the fact is, every one of us has been specifically chosen by God.That is the miracle of election. It is not that he chose some and rejected others. No, He has chosen us all.  You say, “Well that means that none of us are special.” No, that means all of us are special.  Everyone of us, because He is God, has been chosen first. What a wonder! He chose me, He chose  you.  He looked at you and said, “Oh, she’s my number one choice.” He looked at you and said, “Ah, he is the one I choose first.”  Every one of us, chosen by the Father.  Chosen by means of the sanctifying Spirit.

How did we get to be in a relationship with God the Father?  Through the Holy Spirit, no other way.  What kind of a Spirit is it, which has brought us to Christ? He is the Spirit of holiness.  If you are a Christian today, it is because the Spirit has made you Christian and keeps you a Christian, and who is He?  He is the Spirit of holiness.  And he has chosen you, his child, to be just like him, your Daddy.
